Do What? An Impossible Assignment

I knew it was coming. There would be an assignment that would cause me to pause, cause me to think real hard about how I will accomplish the assignment.

Today’s assignment: publish a post based on your own, personalized take on a Daily Prompt.

My analytical mind is probably making this much more difficult that it needs to be. But that is OK. The assignment is to publish a post based on my personal take on a Daily Prompt. I can do that, but wait what is a Daily Prompt and what is today’s Daily Prompt.

A Daily Prompt is a component of The Daily Post that helps blogger get past writers block. All writes suffer from that. We want to write an interesting post but stare at a blank screen for a crazy amount of time hoping that something will click in our brain. The daily prompt changes each day.

So what is today’s Daily Prompt (today being Sunday, Jan 18, 2015)? Here it is .

Pleased to Meet You – Write a post in which the protagonists of two different books or movies meet for the first time. How do they react to each other? Do they get along?

Our assignment goes on to say :

If the prompt still isn’t moving you, write about whatever thought popped into your mind when you first read it. Write about why you think the prompt is silly.

OK, so now I have something to write about. The prompt did not move me. While I can see the value of a prompt to jump-start a blogger, I’m not certain that this prompt is good for Tales from the WagginMaster.

I went back to The Daily Post and saw another prompt. This time it was in the Photo Challenge. The photo challenge prompt said to publish an image that conveys serenity. Now that is something I can certainly do. And I can write about that.

IMG_1205This is one of the ponds at Mark Twain Landing in Monroe City, MO. We spent the summer of 2013 here. On afternoon after a busy work week, I noticed the reflection of the campers along the ponds edge in the still water and thought how calm and peaceful this looked. This is why we travel from RV park to RV park, and work for a season. We spend a season of time in places where others only come for the weekend.

From the 23rd Psalm in the Bible:

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
    he refreshes my soul.

Thanks for stopping by.
