Photography 101 – Day 17: Glass

Today we experiment with glass. That is almost ironic because camera lenses are made from a series of specially curved glass positioned in such a manner that amplifies and clarifies light as it passes through the lenses.

What happens to an image if view through additional glass or even plastic?

17a IMG_2487Shooting the image through a clear plastic water bottle certainly adds a bit of mystery to the image. And since the bottle was full of water, light streaks are visible as my iPhone captured this distorted image.  I always have a water bottle with me when I am out and about.

17b IMG_2489Just in case you are curious, this is the image I captured through a water bottle.

The distorted image reminded me of a Bible passage –

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.  1 Corinthians 13:12 KJV

Photography 101 Day 9 – Mystery

Just could not resist snapping this cool Orchid.

IMG_2435Since I doubt you will ever solve the mystery of where I found this, I’ll just tell you – the floral department of our local grocery store.

It’s name? Indigo Mystique. Found a solution to today’s Photo101 theme in a grocery store. Mystery solved.

Photography 101 Day 4: Bliss & Captioning

Today’s Photography 101 theme is Bliss and Captioning.
Bliss: complete happiness, great joy, paradise, or heaven.
Captioning: A title, short description or explanation accompanying an illustration or photo.

The first chapter of Genesis in the Holy Bible is a description of God creating the world in 6 days and resting on the 7th. At the end of each day’s creation, the passages conclude with the phrase  “it was good”.

At the end of our day, I walk our dogs and enjoy the view of a good sunset; God’s way of reminding me “it was good.” The caption says it all.

Day Three – 5 Day B&W Photo Challenge

Today’s photo was taken at Tremont Outdoor Resort on the eastern edge of Townsend, TN. Growing up in Texas, I fell in love with the majestic Live Oak trees. As I traveled to the eastern US, I encountered the vast Piney woods that stood tall and straight. From that point on, I have been drawn to tall trees.

As we were clearing the leaves from the camp sites, this tall Sweet Gum caught my eye.

The tree reminded me of a bottle rocket soaring up into the sky and exploding when it reached its zenith.

Today I am asking my blogger friend Nancy at Two Trails One Road to join in on the challenge. Nancy has some amazing photographs on her blog. I hope she does.

Thanks for stopping by, y’all come back now.
